1. Introduction

1.1 Parties and Definitions

  1. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern all spray painting and related services (“Services”) provided by Inspire Spray Coat (a brand of The Viame Group Limited, “we”, “us”, or “our”) to the customer (“Client”, “you”, or “your”).
  2. Services cover all types of spray coating work including, but not limited to, those listed in Section 2 below, across all residential, commercial, industrial and specialist categories.
  3. By booking or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Where a separate written contract or project-specific agreement exists for a job, that document takes precedence over these Terms in the event of any conflict; otherwise these Terms apply in full.
  4. “Consumer” means a Client who is an individual acting for purposes wholly or mainly outside a trade, business, craft or profession. “Business Client” means any Client contracting in the course of a trade or business.
  5. References in these Terms to something being confirmed, agreed, instructed, disclosed, requested, notified or provided “in writing”, or in similar terms, include communication by email, WhatsApp message, text message, or other written electronic messaging, as well as formal written correspondence, unless expressly stated otherwise.

1.2 Consumer Rights

  1. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any statutory rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, or any other applicable UK consumer protection legislation. In the event of any conflict, statutory rights prevail.
  2. If any provision is found to be unfair or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remainder shall continue in force.

1.3 Residential and Commercial Clients

  1. Certain sections of these Terms apply differently depending on whether you are a Consumer or a Business Client. Where a distinction applies, it is clearly indicated.
  2. For larger commercial or project-specific engagements, a separate contract or scope-of-works document may be issued. In those cases, these Terms apply as the default standard terms, supplemented and, where expressly stated, superseded by that project document.

1.4 Our Insurance

  1. Inspire Spray Coat holds public liability insurance covering our operations. Details are available on request. This does not affect the requirement for self-employed individuals to hold their own insurance as set out in Section 14.2.

1.5 Intellectual Property

  1. The Inspire Spray Coat brand, trademarks, logos, website content, text, images and design elements are the exclusive property of The Viame Group Limited.
  2. Unauthorised use, reproduction or distribution is prohibited. For licensing or authorised use, please contact The Viame Group Limited.

1.6 Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  1. These Terms and any disputes arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
  2. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

2. Scope of Services

2.1 General

  1. Our Services encompass all types of on-site spray painting and coating work. The specific items and surfaces to be coated, together with the applicable system and finish, will be confirmed in your quotation. The following sections describe the typical scope for each service category.
  2. We are able to spray virtually any surface by agreement. Where a service or substrate is not listed in these Terms, it may still be undertaken subject to a site assessment, written quotation and agreement of applicable terms. See Section 2.14 for our general spraying policy.

2.2 Residential Services

The following services are available for residential properties. Unless otherwise stated in your quotation, scope is limited to the visible face of each item:

  1. Kitchens: external faces of cupboard doors, drawers, kick plates, external side or end panels, cornices, pelmets and other visible elements when standing in the kitchen. Internal surfaces are not included unless expressly quoted.
  2. External Window Frames (uPVC, Timber, Aluminium): visible faces of frames, sashes and casements when in the closed position, including bay windows. Excludes weather seals, brush seals, rubber gaskets, trickle vents, hinges, locks and mechanisms.
  3. Internal Window Frames: spray painting of internal uPVC, timber or aluminium window frames within the property. Preparation requirements differ from external works and will be confirmed in your quotation. Overspray protection of surrounding surfaces is included as standard.
  4. Composite and uPVC Doors: external face of the door panel, frame and any fixed side panels, including French doors and bifold doors. Excludes letter boxes, handles, locks, hinges and mechanisms unless specifically quoted. Carries a 10 year paint guarantee where an approved coating system is used, in accordance with Section 12.
  5. Conservatories: visible faces of frames, roof bars and panels. Excludes seals, gaskets, trickle vents and mechanisms. Enhanced containment and sheeting may be required and is included where specified in your quotation.
  6. Garage Doors: external face of the door panel(s). Excludes springs, tracks, counterbalance mechanisms, locks and internal surfaces unless specifically quoted.
  7. Fascias, Soffits and Bargeboards: external visible face only. Access equipment is charged separately unless included in your quotation. The condition of fixings and underlying timber is not our responsibility.
  8. Gutters and Downpipes: external visible face only. We do not carry out repairs, re-fixing or replacement of guttering or downpipes unless separately quoted. The condition of fixings and joints is outside our scope.
  9. Roofs: spray coating of tiles, slates and roof membranes. Moss and algae must be treated prior to coating; this is included where specified in your quotation. We are not responsible for the underlying structural condition of the roof, cracked or broken tiles, or existing waterproofing failures.
  10. Radiators and Pipework: heat-resistant coating systems are required for radiators. The applicable coating must be confirmed in writing before works commence. We are not responsible for the movement or functioning of radiators or pipework during or after coating.
  11. Furniture and Bespoke Joinery: spray painting of freestanding furniture, fitted wardrobes, bookcases and similar items. Preparation requirements and coating system will vary by substrate and are confirmed in your quotation.
  12. Interior Walls and Ceilings: available in occupied and vacant residential properties, subject to the ventilation and safety provisions in Section 2.5. Overspray containment requirements and access arrangements are the Client’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed.

2.3 Commercial Services

Commercial services are typically governed by a project-specific contract or scope-of-works document. In the absence of such a document, these Terms apply in full. Services include but are not limited to:

  1. Shop Fronts and Facades: spray coating of aluminium, steel, uPVC and composite shopfront systems including fascia panels, stallriser panels, framing and pilasters. Roller shutters and signage panels are included where specified. Works can be scheduled outside trading hours by arrangement.
  2. Cladding: on-site recoating of profiled metal, composite, uPVC and aluminium cladding panels, including rainscreen systems. Visible face only, unless otherwise agreed. Fixings, joints, penetrations and sealants are excluded unless specifically quoted.
  3. Exterior Building Coatings: application of weather-resistant coatings to external facades, concrete, masonry, render, brick and blockwork. Specification and system selection will be confirmed in writing before works commence.
  4. Interior Office and Commercial Painting: airless and air-assisted airless spray application to walls, ceilings, columns and structural elements. Works are planned to minimise disruption; out-of-hours working is available by arrangement.
  5. Commercial and Industrial Ceiling Spray Painting: spray painting of suspended ceiling tiles, grids, structural soffits, exposed services and similar. Containment and overspray protection requirements are confirmed in the project-specific document or quotation.
  6. Unit Frames, Roller Shutters and Industrial Doors: spray coating of frames, surrounds, shutters and associated metalwork on industrial units, warehouses and commercial premises.
  7. Curtain Walling and Architectural Metalwork: recoating of aluminium curtain wall frames, mullions, transoms, lift doors, staircases, handrails, balustrades and associated metalwork.
  8. Steelwork and Structural Elements: application of protective coatings to structural steel, beams, columns and connections. Where fire protection performance is required, see Section 2.4.
  9. Traffic Markings and Line Marking: application of road and floor line-marking systems to car parks, roads and industrial areas. Fast-drying and weather-resistant systems used as standard. Substrate preparation requirements are specified in the project document.

2.4 Specialist and Industrial Coatings

  1. Intumescent and Fire-Resistant Coatings: we apply intumescent coatings to structural steel, timber and other elements requiring passive fire protection. Works are specified to achieve the required fire resistance period in accordance with current UK building regulations and BS EN standards. These works are governed by a project-specific specification document in all cases.
  2. Anti-Graffiti Coatings: application of sacrificial or permanent anti-graffiti systems to external facades, walls and surfaces.
  3. Chemical-Resistant Coatings: application of epoxy and specialist chemical-resistant systems to floors, walls and surfaces in industrial environments. Substrate preparation and product selection are confirmed in the project specification.
  4. Industrial Epoxy Floor Coatings: high-performance epoxy floor coating systems for industrial, commercial and food-production environments. Durable, chemical-resistant and available in a range of finishes. Full specification and substrate requirements are confirmed in the project document.
  5. Coatings for Sports Facilities: application of durable, slip-resistant and weatherproof coating systems to sports facilities, stadiums, courts and gyms. Systems are selected for impact resistance and long-term performance in high-traffic environments.
  6. Luminescent and Photoluminescent Coatings: we can apply photoluminescent coatings for decorative and architectural purposes. Where these coatings are required to perform a life-safety function (e.g. emergency egress or way-finding), a separate specification confirming compliance with applicable standards must be agreed in writing before works commence. No warranty as to life-safety compliance is given unless expressly stated in an agreed specification.
  7. Electrostatic Painting: available for metal surfaces including shopfronts, architectural metalwork and office furniture. This technique delivers high transfer efficiency and is specified where surface complexity or overspray sensitivity requires it.

2.5 Interior Spray Painting and Wall Spraying

  1. We provide interior spray painting services for walls, ceilings, partitions, columns and architectural features in both residential and commercial settings. Interior spray application delivers a superior factory-smooth finish compared to roller or brush application.
  2. We are able to spray interior walls and surfaces in occupied residential properties as well as operational commercial premises. We do not require properties to be vacant as a condition of carrying out interior spray works, subject to the ventilation and safety provisions set out below.
  3. All interior spray operations involve the use of coatings that produce vapour and odour during and immediately after application. The level of vapour and the required clearance time vary by coating system. We manage this through one or more of the following measures, confirmed in advance with the Client: use of extraction equipment to remove vapour during application; establishment of a ventilation setup including open windows and cross-flow air movement; direction to the Client and any occupants to vacate the spray area for a period determined by the product Technical Data Sheet (TDS) or Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the coating in use, and in accordance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) requirements where applicable.
  4. The required vacating period is product-specific and will be communicated to the Client before works commence. For waterborne systems this is typically shorter; for solvent-based or two-component systems the period may be longer and will be confirmed in writing. Re-entry is permitted only after the time specified has elapsed and, where extraction has been used, after the ventilation period has been completed.
  5. The Client is responsible for ensuring that all occupants, including children, elderly persons, pets, and anyone with respiratory conditions, sensitivities or relevant medical conditions, vacate the spray area and remain clear for the full duration specified. We are not liable for any adverse health effects arising from a failure to comply with our re-entry guidance.
  6. For commercial premises, out-of-hours working is available by arrangement to minimise disruption to staff and operations. Containment of the spray area using temporary screens or sheeting is included where specified in the quotation.
  7. All furniture, fixtures and fittings in the spray area must be removed or fully protected by the Client prior to our arrival unless our quotation expressly includes protection as part of the scope.
  8. Colour selection for interior walls follows the process in Section 8. We do not carry out decorating, filling, skimming or plastering as part of our spray service unless separately quoted.

2.6 House and Render Spray Painting

  1. We provide full exterior house spray painting services covering masonry, render, brick, blockwork, pebbledash, tyrolean and similar external substrates.
  2. Where available and appropriate for the substrate, we use specialist masonry and render coatings including flexible, breathable and waterproof systems. The coating system applied will be confirmed in your quotation.
  3. Surfaces must be clean, dry, sound and free from loose material, algae, moss or efflorescence prior to coating. Pre-treatment cleaning and biocidal wash are available as an optional extra and are recommended for all exterior masonry work. Where pre-treatment is not included in the quotation, the Client accepts responsibility for surface preparation.
  4. We are not responsible for the underlying structural condition of the wall, existing cracks, failed pointing, damp ingress or rising damp. Where such issues are identified during preparation, we will advise the Client before proceeding. Additional preparation costs may apply.
  5. Exterior house spraying is subject to our safe spray day policy in Section 9.2.

2.7 Render Repair and Replacement

  1. We provide render repair and replacement services for both residential and commercial properties, ranging from minor crack filling to major cut-out and re-rendering of failed or blown sections. We work with sand and cement render, monocouche, silicone render, acrylic systems, pebbledash, K-Rend and similar through-coloured and applied render systems.
  2. Render is a delicate substrate and the full extent of damage is often not visible until work begins. A repair that appears minor on inspection can reveal blown, hollow, debonded or moisture-affected render once opened up, requiring more extensive cut-out and replacement than originally anticipated. By accepting a quotation for render repair, the Client acknowledges and accepts that the scope may need to be revised once the true extent of the damage is exposed.
  3. Where we discover during works that the damage is more extensive than the agreed scope, we will pause, make the immediate area safe, and provide a revised quotation. We will not carry out the additional works until you have approved the revised quotation in writing, except as set out below where the area cannot safely be left exposed.
  4. Where you do not approve the revised quotation and the exposed area is in a stable and weathertight condition, we will leave the area as it is. From that point the exposed render is your responsibility, and we are not liable for any subsequent water ingress, weather damage or deterioration to the area left exposed.
  5. Where you do not approve the revised quotation but the exposed area cannot safely be left as it is, for example where it is open to water ingress, weather or structural exposure, we will carry out the minimum necessary works to make the area safe and weathertight. These minimum protective works are chargeable regardless of whether you approve the full revised quotation, because they are unavoidable and necessary to protect your property. We are not liable for weather or water damage to any area left exposed because you declined or delayed approval of necessary works.
  6. Colour and texture matching of render cannot be guaranteed. Render is rarely perfectly smooth and weathers over time, so a repaired or replaced section will often differ in texture, colour and finish from the surrounding render, particularly where the existing render is more than three years old or has strong pigmentation. Repaired areas may remain visible. Where a uniform appearance is required, full re-rendering or an overspray coating of the entire elevation is the more reliable solution and can be quoted separately.
  7. Newly applied or replaced render must be allowed to cure fully in accordance with the render manufacturer’s recommendations before any coating is applied over it. We will not coat render that we consider insufficiently cured and will advise the Client accordingly.
  8. We are not responsible for the underlying cause of render failure, including building movement, settlement, thermal movement, water ingress, substrate instability or defective original installation, unless this has been specifically diagnosed and addressed in a separate quotation. Repairing the render does not remedy the underlying cause, and further failure may occur where the cause remains unaddressed.
  9. Each render repair or replacement job carries its own specific terms, scope and pricing, which are confirmed in the quotation for that job. Whether the work is carried out by our directly engaged staff or by a self-employed specialist, the same standards apply and the personnel provisions in Section 14 apply in full.
  10. Render repair and replacement works are subject to our safe spray day and weather policy in Section 9.2, as weather conditions directly affect the curing and performance of render and render coatings.

2.8 Bathroom Spraying

  1. We provide spray painting services for bathrooms in both residential and commercial settings, including hotels, rental properties, care homes and leisure facilities.
  2. Surfaces that can be spray coated include: bath panels and surrounds, shower trays and enclosures, vanity units and bathroom cabinets, bathroom tiles (wall and floor, subject to Section 2.9), and other bathroom furniture and fixtures.
  3. All bathroom spray coating work uses specialist moisture and humidity-resistant coating systems formulated for wet environments. The applicable system will be confirmed in your quotation.
  4. The bathroom must be fully dry and free from mould, limescale and soap residue before we arrive. We may carry out additional cleaning and degreasing on the day; where this is extensive, an additional preparation charge may apply.
  5. We do not carry out plumbing, tiling, grouting, silicone renewal or structural works unless separately quoted. Existing silicone and grouting lines are excluded from coating unless specifically included in the scope.
  6. For commercial bathroom projects, scope, access, working hours and any required containment measures are confirmed in the project-specific document or quotation.
  7. Bathroom coatings are subject to accelerated wear in high-use commercial environments. Expected durability and applicable warranty period will be stated in the quotation. The standard workmanship warranty in Section 12.2 applies.

2.9 Tile Spraying

  1. We provide spray coating of tiles across all settings including kitchens, bathrooms, floors, walls, commercial spaces and exterior tiled surfaces. Tile spraying is suitable for ceramic, porcelain, quarry tile and similar hard-surface tiles.
  2. All tile surfaces must be clean, dry, free from grease, limescale, soap residue and loose grouting before coating. We carry out surface degreasing and preparation on the day; where tiles are heavily soiled, an additional preparation charge may apply in accordance with Section 6.1.
  3. Grout lines are included in the spray process and will take on the coated colour. Where the Client wishes grout lines to remain a contrasting colour, this must be agreed and quoted separately.
  4. Floor tile spraying requires a specialist non-slip additive to meet safety requirements. We will not coat floor tiles without an appropriate slip-resistant system unless the Client provides written confirmation that the area will not be used as a walking surface. We accept no liability for slipping incidents on floor tiles coated without a non-slip system at the Client’s express request.
  5. Tile coatings in high-wear areas (floor tiles, shower trays, commercial kitchens) are subject to greater wear than wall tile coatings. Expected durability and warranty period will be stated in the quotation.
  6. We do not carry out re-grouting, tile replacement or waterproofing works unless separately quoted. Cracked, loose or missing tiles must be remedied by the Client prior to our attendance.

2.10 Metal Spraying

  1. We provide spray coating of metal surfaces across both residential and commercial settings. Metal spraying services cover a wide range of substrates and applications including but not limited to: structural steelwork and beams, gates and railings, garden furniture and outdoor metal fixtures, radiators, pipework and boiler casings, balconies and staircases, security grilles, metal doors and frames, and commercial metalwork including shopfronts, shutters and architectural features.
  2. All metal surfaces must be assessed for corrosion, rust and existing coating condition prior to spraying. Where rust or corrosion is identified, preparation treatment including wire brushing, rust conversion or abrasive blasting will be required before coating.
  3. For structural or load-bearing metalwork, coating specification including primer systems, intermediate coats and topcoats will be confirmed in writing.
  4. Exterior metal items are subject to ongoing environmental exposure. The Client must follow the maintenance requirements in Section 11.4 to preserve coating performance.
  5. Where fire-resistant coating of metalwork is required, see Section 2.4. For guidance on finish selection and how existing substrate condition and coating history are reflected in a new coating, particularly on aluminium and metal doors and frames, see Section 8.3.

2.11 Furniture Spraying

  1. We provide spray painting of furniture items for both residential and commercial clients, including freestanding furniture, fitted furniture, office furniture, retail fixtures, hospitality furniture and bespoke items.
  2. Furniture spraying may be carried out on-site at the Client’s property or, where agreed, off-site at a controlled location. The method will be confirmed in your quotation.
  3. The substrate material (wood, MDF, laminate, metal, plastic) will determine the appropriate coating system and preparation required. We will assess and confirm this prior to works commencing.
  4. For MDF furniture, the advisory in Section 6.4 applies. For metal furniture, the provisions of Section 2.10 apply.
  5. Furniture spraying in occupied premises requires adequate ventilation and appropriate containment to protect surrounding items. The Client is responsible for removing all personal items and accessories from furniture prior to our arrival.

2.12 Bespoke and Company Item Spraying

  1. We accept bespoke spraying commissions covering one-off, custom or unusual items that do not fall within the categories listed above. This includes but is not limited to: bespoke joinery and architectural features, commercial signage and display units, branded business assets and equipment, hospitality and retail fixtures, custom fabrications and artistic or decorative projects.
  2. Bespoke commissions are assessed individually. A site visit or photographic assessment will be carried out before any quotation is issued. The applicable coating system, preparation requirements, expected finish and warranty period are all confirmed in writing before works commence.
  3. We also accept commissions from businesses requiring spray coating of company-owned items, equipment, vehicles or assets. All such work is undertaken on the basis of a written quotation confirming scope, system and applicable terms.
  4. Where bespoke or company item spraying involves materials, substrates or environments outside our standard service categories, we will advise the Client of any limitations, risks or exclusions that apply before accepting the commission.
  5. Bespoke and company item spraying is not covered by the standard residential warranty unless expressly stated in the quotation. The applicable warranty period and conditions will be confirmed in writing for each commission.

2.13 Roof Spraying

  1. We provide spray coating and cleaning services for roofs on both residential and commercial properties, including pitched roofs (tiles, slates), flat roofs (felt, GRP, EPDM and similar membranes), metal roofs and profiled roofing sheets.
  2. All roof spraying works are subject to our safe spray day policy in Section 9.2.
  3. Prior to coating, all roofs require cleaning to remove moss, algae, lichen and atmospheric soiling. A biocidal pre-treatment wash is recommended and is included where specified in your quotation. We are not responsible for the re-growth of moss or algae on roofs where a biocidal pre-treatment was not included.
  4. We are not responsible for the underlying structural condition of the roof, broken or cracked tiles or slates, failed flashings, blocked gutters or existing waterproofing failures. Where such issues are identified during preparation, we will advise the Client before proceeding.
  5. For flat roofs, we apply specialist waterproof coating systems where specified. These systems are not a substitute for structural repairs to failed flat roof membranes. The Client must ensure that the existing membrane is structurally sound before our attendance.
  6. Access to roofs requires appropriate equipment. Scaffold, cherry picker or other access arrangements are the Client’s responsibility unless our quotation expressly includes access as part of the scope.

2.14 Any Other Spraying

  1. In addition to the services listed in this Section 2, we are able to spray virtually any surface, substrate or item by prior agreement. Our capability extends to any paintable surface including plastics, GRP, glass-fibre, vinyl, leather, fabric (where appropriate coatings exist), concrete, stone and specialist architectural materials.
  2. Where a surface or item is not covered by the sections above, the Client should contact us to discuss whether the work is within our capability. We will carry out an assessment and, where we are able to proceed, issue a written quotation confirming the scope, coating system, preparation requirements, expected finish and applicable warranty.
  3. We reserve the right to decline any commission where we consider the substrate, environment or requested finish to be outside our competence or where we are unable to identify a suitable coating system.
  4. For any item or surface not covered by the standard categories in this Section, the warranty period and conditions are confirmed individually in the quotation. The general exclusions in Section 12.7 apply in all cases.

2.15 Visible Surface Policy

  1. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, we coat only the visible faces of fixtures and surfaces as described in your quotation. Internal, hidden, rear or inaccessible surfaces are excluded unless specifically included in the scope and priced accordingly.

2.16 Scope Verification and Extras

  1. We verify scope via WhatsApp, telephone, email (using photos and videos) and, where necessary, by on-site visit prior to works commencing.
  2. Anything outside what is agreed through these channels is a chargeable extra and requires prior written approval from our office before work begins.
  3. Clients must not offer our team cash or other payments for extra work on site. All variations must be authorised through our office. If a Client makes a direct offer to our on-site team, we reserve the right to stop work and require immediate payment for work completed to that point. A re-mobilisation fee may apply if a new visit is required.
  4. We reserve the right to pursue further reasonable damages and costs arising from any breach of these provisions.

2.17 Silicone, Mastic, Gaskets and Seals

  1. Silicone, rubber gaskets and brush seals may be present on items listed for spraying in your quotation. Silicone does not form a stable bond with a sprayed coating, and painting over it can lead to cracking, sticking or premature failure of the coating. Rubber gaskets and brush seals may be damaged or have their function impaired by overspray. Coatings applied to any of these materials are not covered by our guarantees. Removal and renewal of silicone is an optional extra in accordance with Section 2.17(iv). Masking to the silicone line may leave a fine witness line.
  2. Mastic and flexible frame sealants behave differently to silicone. Whereas silicone will not accept a coating, mastic and acrylic frame sealants will accept paint but remain permanently flexible. Because the joint continues to expand and contract with temperature while the cured coating is comparatively rigid, a coating applied over mastic is likely to crack or split along the line of the joint over time. This is a consequence of the movement of the sealant and is not a defect in our workmanship or a coating failure.
  3. Our standard practice is to mask silicone, mastic and flexible sealant lines rather than coat them where we identify them before works commence. Section 2.17(v) governs whether these lines are sprayed where they form part of a listed item and no instruction has been given. Where a silicone, mastic or sealant line is sprayed, whether by prior agreement or in accordance with Section 2.17(v), no guarantee is given against cracking, sticking, splitting or witness lines along the line, and such outcomes are excluded from all guarantees and warranties. Where a line is masked rather than coated, a fine witness line may remain along the masked edge.
  4. The application of fresh mastic or sealant, including in a colour of your choice, is a separate service which is quoted separately where we offer it. We may carry this out ourselves or arrange for a specialist to do so, and whether we offer it at all is determined per job. Sealant renewal is not included in any spraying quotation unless expressly stated.
  5. Where a silicone, mastic or sealant line forms part of the visible surface of an item listed for spraying in your quotation, we treat it as included within the visible scope of that item unless you have instructed us in writing, before works commence, to mask the line, exclude it from coating entirely, or arrange for a specialist to remove and renew it in accordance with Section 2.17(iv). Where practical, we will advise you in advance that a silicone, mastic or sealant line falls within the scope of an item to be sprayed, so that you may give such an instruction, but the absence of such advice from us does not affect the default position in this clause. Spraying over a silicone, mastic or sealant line in these circumstances is not an error on our part, and the exclusions from our guarantees set out in Section 12.7 continue to apply regardless of whether an instruction was given.

2.18 Tracks, Mechanisms and Moving Parts

  1. Tracks, hinges, locks, handles, letterbox mechanisms, multi-point locking mechanisms, friction stays, window and door rollers, sliding and bifold door tracks, roller shutter and garage door tracks, springs and counterbalance mechanisms, trickle vents, extractor louvres and any other moving or mechanical part are excluded from spraying as standard across all service categories in this Section 2, regardless of whether they are separately listed as an exclusion for a specific item, unless expressly and specifically included in your quotation.
  2. We coat using two-component polyurethane (PU) and similar high-build coating systems. These systems form a comparatively thick and rigid film once cured, which can bridge the fine tolerances that moving parts and mechanisms depend on to operate freely. Spraying into or around a track, hinge, lock or mechanism carries an inherent risk of stiffness, sticking, binding, reduced operation or mechanical failure, regardless of the care taken in application.
  3. Where you instruct us to spray a track, mechanism or moving part, whether as part of the original quotation or as a variation agreed on site, this is carried out entirely at your own risk. We will take reasonable care and mask or protect the mechanism where practical, but we do not guarantee that the mechanism will continue to operate as before, and we accept no liability for stiffness, sticking, binding, reduced function or failure of any mechanism sprayed at your request.
  4. Spraying a mechanism may affect a manufacturer’s or installer’s warranty relating to that mechanism. It is your responsibility to check this before instructing us to proceed. We accept no liability for the effect of our works on any third-party warranty.
  5. This exclusion and risk allocation applies regardless of whether the mechanism was flagged by us in advance. Where practical, we will advise you before spraying a mechanism, but the absence of such advice does not affect the position in this clause.
  6. Failures or malfunctions arising from coating applied to a track, mechanism or moving part, whether sprayed by agreement or otherwise, are excluded from the workmanship warranty and both 10 Year Paint Guarantees, in accordance with Section 12.7.

3. Repairs

3.1 General

  1. We offer repair services as both a standalone service and as preparatory works carried out prior to spray coating. All repair works are subject to a separate quotation unless expressly included within the scope of a spray coating quotation. Repair works not included in a quotation will not be carried out without prior written agreement and pricing.
  2. Repairs are available for both residential and commercial clients across all substrate types we work with, including uPVC, timber, MDF, composite, metal, masonry, render and tile.
  3. The purpose of our repair service is to restore a surface to a condition suitable for coating or to a functional and presentable standard. Repairs do not restore a surface to its original manufactured condition, do not make a surface new, and cannot reverse the effects of age, prolonged wear, structural movement or pre-existing damage. The Client must have realistic expectations of the outcome of repair works, and we will advise on achievable results before works commence.

3.2 Surface Repairs Prior to Spray Coating

  1. Where surface repairs are required as part of a spray coating project, these must be identified and agreed before works commence. Repairs included in the quotation form part of the overall scope. Repairs identified on the day that were not included in the quotation are chargeable extras subject to Section 2.16.
  2. Surface repairs prior to coating may include: filling of holes, dents and minor chips; crack filling on timber, masonry, render and composite substrates; edge repair and consolidation of damaged MDF or timber profiles; minor uPVC section repair or filling; surface cleaning and decontamination; and sanding or abrading to achieve a suitable profile for coating.
  3. Surface repairs are preparatory works. Their purpose is to produce a surface suitable for coating, not to achieve a perfect or invisible repair. Filled areas, repaired edges and patched sections may remain visible to varying degrees after coating, particularly on textured, heavily weathered or damaged substrates. This is a characteristic of repair work and is not a defect in our workmanship.
  4. Where the extent of surface damage is greater than anticipated once preparation has commenced, we will advise the Client of the additional repair works required and the associated cost before proceeding. The provisions of Section 6.3 apply.

3.3 Standalone Repair Service

  1. We offer standalone repair services where no spray coating is required. This includes repairs to uPVC frames, doors and windows; timber repairs including filling, consolidation and minor section replacement; composite door and panel repairs; masonry and render crack filling and patch repairs; and minor metal repairs including rust treatment and filling.
  2. Standalone repairs are quoted individually based on the nature, extent and location of the damage. We will carry out a site assessment or photographic assessment before issuing any quotation for standalone repair works.
  3. Standalone repairs are carried out to a functional and presentable standard. We do not guarantee that a repaired surface will be invisible or indistinguishable from the surrounding undamaged material. Colour matching of existing painted or coated surfaces is not included in a standalone repair unless expressly quoted. Where colour matching is required, a localised spray coating of the repaired area is recommended and can be quoted separately.
  4. A standalone repair does not include or imply any coating, painting or finishing of the repaired area unless separately quoted. Where the Client wishes the repaired area to be finished, this must be agreed and priced in advance.
  5. Standalone repair works carry a workmanship warranty of 12 months from the date of completion unless a different period is stated in the quotation. This warranty covers defects in our repair technique and materials only. It does not cover further deterioration of the surrounding substrate, re-cracking due to structural movement, or damage caused by the Client or third parties.

3.4 Limitations of Repair Works

Repairs restore function and appearance to a reasonable standard. They do not make a surface new. The following limitations apply to all repair works and must be understood and accepted by the Client before works commence:

  1. Repaired areas may remain visible after completion, particularly where the substrate is heavily textured, weathered, pitted or discoloured. We will advise on the likely degree of visibility before works commence.
  2. Where a surface has multiple areas of damage, individual repairs may be visible as distinct patches. Full refurbishment or coating of the entire surface is often the more appropriate solution and will be recommended where relevant.
  3. Repairs to surfaces that continue to move, flex, expand or contract, such as timber in exposed positions, masonry subject to settlement, or uPVC in direct sun, may crack, open or fail over time. This is a characteristic of the substrate and not a defect in the repair.
  4. We do not carry out structural repairs. Where damage is structural in nature, including cracked lintels, failed wall ties, rotten structural timber, or failed building envelope elements, this must be addressed by the appropriate specialist before we carry out any surface repair or coating works.
  5. Where we carry out repairs and subsequently apply a coating, the coating performance over the repaired area is subject to the same substrate advisory provisions in Section 7 as the surrounding material. Repairs do not create a substrate superior to the original material.

3.5 Ancillary and Adjacent Components

  1. In the course of carrying out spraying, coating or repair works, our team may work on, around or adjacent to ancillary building components including soffits, fascias, bargeboards, guttering, downpipes, trims, beading, cappings and similar fixed elements.
  2. Many of these components are subject to age, weathering, corrosion, rot, insect damage, poor original fixing or general deterioration that is not always visible on inspection. Where such a component is already damaged, weakened, rotten, corroded or inadequately fixed before our works begin, it may crack, split, detach, fall or fail during or after our works through no fault of ours.
  3. We are not liable for damage to, or the failure or detachment of, any ancillary or adjacent component where that component was already in a damaged, deteriorated, weakened or poorly fixed condition before our works commenced. The failure of such a component during our works is a consequence of its pre-existing condition and not of our workmanship.
  4. Where we identify that an ancillary or adjacent component is in poor condition and at risk of failure, we will advise the Client before proceeding. Where the Client instructs us to proceed regardless, they accept the risk of failure of that component.
  5. Where the safe completion of our works requires the temporary removal, securing or making safe of an ancillary component, this will be discussed and quoted separately. We do not remove, refit or replace ancillary components as part of standard works unless expressly quoted.
  6. Nothing in this section limits our liability for damage caused directly by our own negligence, or your statutory rights as a Consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

3.6 Liability for Repair Works

  1. We take all reasonable care in carrying out repair works. Our liability is limited to rectifying any defect in our repair technique or materials that becomes apparent within the applicable warranty period.
  2. We are not liable for: the visibility of repaired areas after completion where we have advised the Client in advance; further deterioration of the surrounding substrate beyond the repaired area; re-opening of repairs caused by substrate movement, thermal cycling or structural issues; or damage to adjacent surfaces that was pre-existing at the time of our works.
  3. Where repair works reveal hidden damage, voids, rotten material or structural issues that were not apparent before works commenced, we will stop, advise the Client, and provide a revised quotation. We are not liable for the condition of the substrate beneath the surface we were engaged to repair.
  4. Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights as a Consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

4. Renovation and Full Substrate Preparation

4.1 General

  1. We offer full renovation and substrate preparation services where the existing coating, laminate, wrap or surface finish is to be fully removed before new works are applied. Renovation works are always subject to a specific quotation and are not included within a standard spray coating quotation unless expressly stated.
  2. Renovation and full strip-back services are available for both residential and commercial clients and cover all substrate types we work with. The scope, method and applicable materials will be confirmed in writing before works commence.
  3. Full renovation works may involve chemical stripping, mechanical abrasion, heat application, power washing, abrasive blasting or hand preparation depending on the substrate and the existing coating system. The method used will be confirmed in your quotation.

4.2 Risk of Revealing Pre-Existing Conditions

  1. Full strip-back and renovation works carry an inherent risk of revealing pre-existing damage, defects or conditions that were concealed beneath the existing coating or surface finish. This is a known and accepted characteristic of renovation works and is not caused by our process.
  2. Pre-existing conditions that may be revealed during renovation include but are not limited to: rotten or structurally compromised timber; swollen, delaminated or damaged MDF; corroded or pitted metal; failed adhesion of previous coating systems at the substrate level; cracks, voids or settlement damage in masonry or render; and contamination of the substrate surface with oils, resins, salts or prior treatment products.
  3. Where pre-existing conditions are revealed during works, we will stop, document the findings and advise the Client before proceeding. A revised quotation will be issued for any additional works required. We are not liable for the pre-existing condition of the substrate and the discovery of such conditions does not entitle the Client to a reduction in the price of the agreed works already completed.
  4. Where the Client instructs us to proceed over a substrate condition that we have flagged as a risk, they accept full responsibility for any subsequent failure arising from that condition.

4.3 Chemical Stripping and Mechanical Preparation

  1. Chemical stripping involves the application of solvent or alkaline stripping agents to remove existing coatings. These agents may affect adjacent surfaces, sealants, gaskets and materials if not fully contained. We take all reasonable steps to protect surrounding areas; however the Client acknowledges that chemical stripping carries a higher risk of incidental surface contact than standard spray coating works.
  2. Mechanical preparation including abrasive blasting, sanding and grinding generates dust, debris and noise. The Client is responsible for ensuring the work area is cleared of all personal items, furniture and sensitive equipment before mechanical preparation commences.
  3. Following chemical or mechanical strip-back, the substrate surface may differ significantly in appearance and profile from its pre-stripped condition. This is normal and expected. It does not constitute damage caused by our works.
  4. We do not carry out chemical stripping in occupied residential rooms. For commercial premises, out-of-hours working and additional ventilation measures may be required and will be confirmed in the quotation.

4.4 Renovation Works and Guarantees

  1. Where renovation works are carried out and a new coating system is subsequently applied, the coating guarantee in Section 12 applies to the new coating from the date of its application, subject to all the conditions in that section.
  2. Full strip-back to bare substrate is the most reliable foundation for a new coating system and reduces the risk of intercoat adhesion failure described in Section 7.10. However, it does not eliminate all substrate risks described in Section 7, particularly where the substrate itself has pre-existing damage or inherent characteristics that affect coating performance.
  3. Where renovation works reveal substrate damage that cannot be fully remedied before coating, we will advise the Client. Any coating applied over a substrate that we have flagged as damaged or compromised is applied at the Client’s instruction and risk, and the guarantee provisions of Section 12 do not apply to areas where such a risk was documented and accepted by the Client.

4.5 Liability for Renovation Works

  1. We take all reasonable care in carrying out renovation and strip-back works. Our liability is limited to direct damage caused by our negligence in the application of our preparation method.
  2. We are not liable for: the condition of the substrate revealed by strip-back; pre-existing damage concealed beneath the surface; the response of adjacent materials to chemical stripping agents where reasonable containment measures were in place; or the cost of remedying pre-existing substrate conditions identified during the works.
  3. Where renovation works are carried out in preparation for a coating that is subsequently applied by us, our overall liability is governed by Sections 12 and 13 of these Terms.
  4. Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights as a Consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

5. Preparation and Client Responsibilities

5.1 Residential – Clear and Empty Spaces

  1. Please ensure all cupboards are emptied, shelves are cleared, and work surfaces are free of items before our arrival. This enables us to carry out work without unnecessary delays or obstructions.

5.2 Commercial – Site Access and Preparation

  1. It is the Client’s responsibility to ensure the site is prepared and accessible for our team, including clear and safe access to the work area and removal of obstructions.
  2. If delays occur due to inadequate site preparation or access, we reserve the right to charge for the additional time and costs incurred at the applicable day rate.
  3. Non-essential personnel, including members of the public, children, pets and other animals, must be kept clear of the work area at all times during spraying operations.

5.3 Health and Safety During Spraying

  1. Spray coating operations may involve chemical coatings containing solvents or other substances requiring careful handling. All persons not directly involved in the works must remain clear of the spraying area during application and until the coating has achieved initial dry.
  2. We will advise the Client of the areas to be kept clear and the expected duration. The Client is responsible for ensuring that household members, employees, visitors and contractors comply with these requirements.
  3. We are not liable for any injury, illness or damage arising from a failure by the Client or any third party to comply with our safety instructions or to keep persons or animals away from the work area.
  4. If working at height is required, appropriate access equipment will be used by our team in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005. Clients must not attempt to use or interfere with our access equipment.

5.4 Handles and Ancillary Items

  1. We may remove handles and other ancillary items to achieve a quality finish. We only remove doors, drawers or units where required and strictly at our discretion.
  2. Refitting of handles and ancillary items is the Client’s responsibility unless the quotation expressly includes refitting. Where refitting is included, we will carry it out after the coating has reached safe handling strength.
  3. Minor realignment may be required after refitting and is not a defect.
  4. We do not dismantle or reassemble carcasses, worktops, appliances, glazing or hardware unless explicitly quoted as an extra or necessity.

5.5 Masking and Protection

  1. We take all reasonable steps to protect surrounding areas using tape and protective sheeting. However, even low-tack tape can occasionally pull existing paint or damage wallpaper. You acknowledge and accept this inherent risk when using our Services.
  2. Conservatories, exterior frames and large commercial sites may require enhanced containment to manage overspray. Additional time may be required where access is tight or landscaping is close to the work area.

6. Condition of Surfaces

6.1 Expected Condition on Arrival

  1. We expect all surfaces to be in a fair condition, free from significant dust, debris, grease, glue or existing paint residues. If surfaces are discovered to be heavily contaminated or require additional preparation beyond what was anticipated, we reserve the right to charge an additional premium of 10% of the total original quote to cover extra time and materials. We will notify you of any such additional charge before proceeding and you will have the opportunity to accept or decline. If you decline, we will carry out the agreed scope only, and we accept no liability for any reduction in finish quality resulting from the inadequate surface condition.

6.2 Inspection and Changes

  1. If the scope of work changes due to unforeseen conditions discovered on the day, we will discuss any additional costs or revised timelines with you before proceeding.

6.3 Hidden Damage and Additional Day Rate

  1. In the event that hidden damage or unforeseen conditions become apparent after preparation or stripping and you authorise us to proceed, additional labour is charged at £225 per day plus materials (and VAT where applicable) unless your quotation states a different figure.

6.4 MDF Surfaces Advisory

  1. MDF is a porous engineered board. Edges and cut-outs absorb moisture and can swell. Historic water damage, delamination of vinyl wraps or laminates, deep chips and soft edges may print through coatings even after preparation.
  2. Stain-blocking primers and two-component or waterborne polyurethane systems improve performance but cannot fully reverse prior substrate damage.
  3. Areas near sinks, hobs, dishwashers and bins are at higher risk due to heat and steam.
  4. Our guarantees do not cover post-completion moisture ingress, ongoing substrate failure, or defects arising from pre-existing damage. Where MDF is heavily damaged we may recommend replacement parts. See Section 7.2 for the full substrate advisory on MDF and engineered wood.

6.5 Previously Painted Surfaces

  1. Where surfaces have been previously painted, we cannot guarantee the same results as on a clean substrate. Adhesion failures in existing paint layers or poorly bonded previous finishes may affect the performance of our coating regardless of preparation. We will advise on any concerns identified during preparation. See Section 7.10 for the full substrate advisory on previously coated surfaces.

6.6 Client Disclosure of Known Pre-Existing Conditions

  1. Where you are aware, or ought reasonably to be aware, of an existing defect, failure, damage or deterioration affecting a surface or substrate to be sprayed, including any arising from a previous coating, repair or incident, you must disclose this to us in writing before works commence.
  2. Our assessment of a surface before spraying is a visual and reasonably practicable assessment only. It does not amount to a full diagnostic investigation and may not identify a defect or condition of which you are already aware.
  3. Where a defect, failure or deterioration appears after completion at the same location, or of the same type, as a condition you knew of or ought reasonably to have known of and did not disclose, this is treated as a pre-existing condition under Section 7 and is not covered by the workmanship warranty or either 10 Year Paint Guarantee.
  4. Nothing in this clause limits your statutory rights as a Consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

7. Substrate Behaviour, Adverse Reactions and Pre-Existing Conditions

The following section sets out known risks, behaviours and pre-existing failure modes associated with specific substrates. These are inherent characteristics of the materials being coated and are not defects in our workmanship. Our liability does not extend to failures that originate within the substrate itself, were present before our works commenced, or which manifest as a result of the substrate’s behaviour after a properly applied coating. Proper application in accordance with the product Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and our standard preparation process does not eliminate these risks. We will communicate substrate concerns that we identify to the Client before proceeding, but the provisions of this Section 7 apply regardless of whether a specific concern was individually raised with you in advance.

7.1 uPVC and Plastic Substrates

  1. uPVC expands and contracts with temperature changes. This thermal movement is an inherent property of the material. Where movement is excessive or the substrate is aged, degraded or heavily chalked, coating adhesion may be reduced over time regardless of preparation quality.
  2. Heavily weathered, chalked or oxidised uPVC that has not been adequately pre-treated may exhibit adhesion failure at the substrate surface rather than within the coating itself. Pre-treatment cleaning using appropriate uPVC-compatible cleaners is included in our standard process.
  3. uPVC profiles that have been previously painted with incompatible systems may exhibit delamination, bubbling or lifting between the old coating and our new application. We carry out adhesion testing where possible; however we cannot fully assess the compatibility of unknown existing coatings without laboratory analysis.
  4. Certain uPVC profiles, particularly older or non-standard formulations, may contain plasticiser compounds that migrate to the surface over time and disrupt adhesion. This is a pre-existing substrate characteristic and is not covered by our guarantees.
  5. Dark colours applied to uPVC on south-facing or highly exposed elevations will absorb significantly more heat than lighter colours. This can accelerate thermal movement and may affect long-term coating performance. We will advise on colour selection risks where relevant; however the Client accepts this risk when selecting a dark colour for a highly exposed elevation.

7.2 MDF and Engineered Wood

  1. MDF is highly susceptible to moisture absorption, particularly at cut edges, routed profiles and drill holes. Even after sealing, moisture ingress can cause swelling, delamination or edge failure. These are pre-existing material characteristics and are not workmanship defects.
  2. Deep chips, dents, soft edges or areas of prior swelling may telegraph through the coating surface even after filling and preparation. This print-through effect is a limitation of the substrate, not a fault in application.
  3. MDF near sinks, hobs, dishwashers, steam sources or in bathrooms is at elevated risk of moisture-related failure regardless of the coating system used. Moisture-resistant MDF grades and appropriate primer systems reduce but do not eliminate this risk.
  4. Previously applied vinyl wraps, laminates or foil finishes on MDF may have compromised adhesion to the board beneath. Where these are present, the coating may adhere well to the laminate but the laminate itself may subsequently fail from the board. This is a pre-existing substrate condition and is not covered by our warranty.
  5. Staining from tannins, knots or resin in timber-faced MDF composites may bleed through coatings over time. Stain-blocking primers reduce but may not completely prevent this in severe cases.

7.3 Timber and Wood

  1. Timber is a natural material that expands and contracts with changes in moisture content and temperature. Where timber has not been adequately sealed or primed, or where it is subject to excessive moisture exposure, coating failure at joints, end grain or splits may occur.
  2. Knots, resin pockets and sap lines in timber can bleed through coatings over time, causing discolouration or localised adhesion failure. Knotting solution and stain-blocking primers are used as standard on bare or stripped timber; however severe or active resin bleed cannot be fully arrested by surface preparation alone.
  3. Rotten, punky or structurally compromised timber must be repaired or replaced before coating. We will not apply coatings to timber that we identify as structurally unsound. Where hidden rot is discovered after preparation has commenced, additional costs may apply.
  4. Previously painted timber with multiple layers of old paint may be subject to intercoat adhesion failure between existing layers. Our coating will adhere to the surface layer we prepare; we are not responsible for failures within earlier coating layers below our preparation level.

7.4 Metal Substrates

  1. Metals including steel, aluminium and iron are subject to corrosion, oxidisation and galvanic reactions depending on their alloy, environment and prior treatment. Surface rust or oxidisation must be mechanically removed before coating. Where corrosion is present below the surface or within the metal profile itself, our coating will not arrest the underlying corrosive process.
  2. Existing powder coat finishes may have micro-cracking, chalking or adhesion loss that is not visible prior to preparation. Where powder coat is failing beneath our application, the coating system may delaminate in line with the underlying powder coat failure. This is a pre-existing substrate condition.
  3. Galvanised steel presents adhesion challenges due to the zinc surface chemistry. Specialist etch primers are required. Even with correct priming, newly galvanised surfaces can exhibit adhesion inconsistencies during the early weathering period. We will specify the appropriate primer system; however the Client accepts that galvanised substrates carry a higher inherent risk of early adhesion variation.
  4. Aluminium extrusions may contain release agents or surface oils from the manufacturing process that are not visible and may resist standard cleaning. We carry out degreasing as standard; however residual contaminants embedded within the extrusion profile can migrate to the surface over time and affect adhesion. This is a material characteristic of the substrate.
  5. Cast iron and older ferrous metals may have surface porosity, pitting or embedded scale. Preparation removes surface contamination but cannot address sub-surface porosity. Coatings over heavily pitted metals may show surface texture variations that are not a workmanship defect.

7.5 Masonry, Render and Concrete

  1. Masonry, render and concrete substrates are subject to moisture movement, carbonation, efflorescence and thermal expansion. Where moisture is present within the wall at the time of coating, hydrostatic pressure from within can cause blistering or delamination of the coating regardless of surface preparation.
  2. Efflorescence (salt crystallisation migrating to the surface) is a common phenomenon in masonry and render. It may appear after coating as white crystalline deposits or blistering beneath the surface film. This is caused by soluble salts within the substrate and is not a coating failure.
  3. Hairline cracks in render or plaster that are present at the time of coating will remain visible through or beneath most coating systems. Flexible coatings reduce crack visibility but do not bridge structural movement cracks. Where crack width or frequency is significant, we will advise the Client before proceeding.
  4. Sand-cement render and pebbledash substrates may have loose or friable areas that are not apparent until preparation commences. Where loose material is identified, it must be removed and the substrate made good before coating.
  5. Newly applied render must be allowed to cure fully in accordance with the render manufacturer’s recommendations before coating. Applying coatings to uncured render can trap moisture and cause adhesion failure. We will not coat render that we consider insufficiently cured and will advise the Client accordingly.

7.6 Tiles (Ceramic, Porcelain and Similar)

  1. Glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles present a low-porosity surface that requires mechanical or chemical etching to achieve adhesion. Despite correct preparation, the inherently smooth and non-porous nature of tile glazes means that tile coatings are subject to a higher risk of adhesion failure than porous substrates, particularly in high-wear, high-moisture or thermally active areas.
  2. Tiles that have been previously sealed, waxed or treated with surface-active cleaning products may resist adhesion even after degreasing. Where such treatments are present and not disclosed by the Client prior to our attendance, we cannot be held responsible for adhesion failure.
  3. Grout lines between tiles are a potential weak point in tile coating systems. Grout that is cracked, loose, contaminated with mould or inadequately bonded to the tile may cause localised coating failure at the grout interface. This is a pre-existing substrate condition.
  4. Floor tiles coated with a non-slip system carry an inherently different surface texture to uncoated tiles. The non-slip additive creates micro-texture that may trap dirt over time, which requires appropriate cleaning to maintain appearance.
  5. Tiles in shower enclosures and wet areas are subject to continuous thermal cycling, humidity fluctuation and chemical exposure from shower products. Even with a correctly applied moisture-resistant system, coating performance in these environments is more demanding than in dry areas and the warranty period will reflect this.

7.7 Composite Doors and GRP

  1. Composite doors typically comprise a glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) skin over a foam or timber core. Coatings applied to GRP adhere to the surface layer and follow the existing moulded texture; we do not fill or smooth the moulded profile unless specifically quoted.
  2. GRP surfaces may contain mould release agents from the manufacturing process. These must be fully removed before coating. Where release agents have penetrated the surface layer over time, standard cleaning may not achieve complete removal, and adhesion inconsistencies may result. This is a substrate characteristic and not a workmanship defect.
  3. The foam or timber core of composite doors can absorb moisture at cut edges, unmoulded faces and damaged areas, leading to expansion and surface distortion. Where core damage is present, this may affect coating performance at those locations.
  4. South-facing or exposed composite doors are subject to more severe UV, thermal cycling and rain exposure. Our approved coating systems are selected to perform in UK conditions; however the Client accepts that highly exposed elevations carry a higher inherent risk of earlier weathering of the coating finish.

7.8 Bathroom and Wet Area Substrates

  1. Surfaces in bathrooms and wet areas including shower trays, bath surrounds, wall panels and cabinet fascias are subject to continuous exposure to water, steam, cleaning chemicals and thermal cycling. Even with specialist moisture-resistant coating systems, these conditions represent the most demanding operating environment for a spray-applied finish.
  2. Acrylic bath and shower trays are prone to flexing under load. Coating systems applied to flexible acrylic substrates may crack or delaminate over time as a result of this flex rather than adhesion failure. This is a substrate behaviour characteristic and not a workmanship defect.
  3. Existing sealant, silicone and soap residue that is not fully removed during preparation may cause localised adhesion failure. We carry out thorough degreasing as standard; however contamination embedded in the surface of porous materials may not be fully removed by surface cleaning alone.
  4. Mould-affected surfaces must be fully treated with an appropriate biocidal preparation before coating. Where mould is present within the substrate (as opposed to on the surface), re-growth beneath the coating may occur. This is a pre-existing substrate condition and is not covered by our warranty.

7.9 Masonry and Exterior Painted Surfaces

  1. Exterior painted surfaces including previously coated masonry, render and concrete may have multiple layers of incompatible coatings applied over time. The condition of these existing layers directly affects the performance of any new coating applied over them.
  2. Intercoat adhesion failure on exterior masonry, where our coating separates from an existing layer beneath, is a known risk on previously painted surfaces. We prepare to the level that is reasonably practical; however where existing coatings are failing from the substrate beneath our preparation depth, the failure is a pre-existing condition.
  3. Carbonated concrete and mortar can have a weakened surface layer that fractures under the tension of a drying coating film. This is a structural property of the substrate rather than a fault in the coating or its application.
  4. Biological growth including algae, lichens and moss can re-establish itself on exterior surfaces after coating if a biocidal wash was not applied or if the coating system selected does not include a biocidal additive. We will recommend appropriate systems; however, the Client accepts responsibility for ongoing maintenance of exterior surfaces in accordance with Section 11.4.

7.10 Previously Coated Surfaces (All Substrates)

  1. Where any substrate has been previously coated, the performance of our application is dependent in part on the integrity of the existing coating beneath. We prepare the surface to the level that is reasonably practical without full strip-back, and we carry out adhesion testing where appropriate.
  2. Intercoat adhesion failure, where our coating separates from an existing layer beneath rather than from the substrate itself, is a known risk on previously painted surfaces. Where such failure occurs, it originates within the existing coating system and not in our application.
  3. We will advise the Client of any concerns identified during preparation, including areas of suspect adhesion, incompatible existing coatings or inadequate surface profile. Where the Client instructs us to proceed over a surface we have identified as a risk, they accept the consequences of that decision.
  4. Full strip-back of existing coatings to bare substrate eliminates the risk of intercoat adhesion failure and may be recommended or required for certain substrates or coating systems. Where strip-back is required and not included in the original quotation, additional costs will apply.

7.11 General Substrate Disclaimer

  1. The adverse reaction risks described in this Section 7 are well-documented characteristics of the relevant substrates and are recognised within the professional coatings industry. They do not indicate a failure of care or skill on our part. Our responsibility is to apply the correct coating system using the correct preparation process in accordance with the product TDS and recognised industry practice.
  2. Where a substrate exhibits the behaviours described in this Section after a properly applied coating, we will assess the situation in good faith. Where we are satisfied that the failure originates within the substrate rather than in our application, the claim will not be accepted under the workmanship warranty.
  3. We will communicate substrate concerns that we identify to the Client before proceeding, and will document these in writing where they are material. This applies regardless of whether every possible substrate concern was individually identified or raised with you. Where the Client instructs us to proceed over a substrate we have flagged as a risk, they accept responsibility for any failure that arises from that pre-existing condition.

7.12 Tracks, Mechanisms and Moving Parts

  1. Window and door tracks, hinges, locks, multi-point locking mechanisms, friction stays, rollers and similar mechanical components rely on fine, engineered tolerances to operate correctly. Any coating applied to or around these components, however carefully applied, adds thickness and can affect that tolerance.
  2. Two-component polyurethane and similar high-build coatings cure to a hard, rigid film. Where such a coating bridges a moving joint or mechanism, this is a characteristic of the coating system and not a defect in our application.
  3. Brush seals, pile seals and similar draught-sealing components may become saturated or fouled by overspray, which can impair their weather-sealing function. This is a pre-existing characteristic of these components when exposed to any coating and is not a workmanship defect.
  4. Where mechanisms are sprayed at the Client’s instruction, the provisions of Section 2.18 apply.

8. Colour and Finish Confirmation and Approval

8.1 Colour Selection

  1. For residential clients, we recommend visiting a local paint stockist to view physical colour samples before confirming your colour choice. Digital swatches, website colour selectors and screen images are guides only and do not accurately represent the final sprayed finish.
  2. For commercial clients, colour is matched to a specified RAL or BS number, an approved colour standard, or a client-supplied physical sample, confirmed in writing before ordering materials.

8.2 Colour Approval and Batch Variation

  1. Once you confirm a colour in writing (including by WhatsApp or email), we proceed on the basis of that approval. No claims regarding colour will be accepted after written approval has been given.
  2. Minor batch-to-batch variations in paint can occur. We cannot guarantee an exact match to a previous application, a printed colour chart or a digital screen. Colour perception also varies under different lighting conditions and this is not a defect.
  3. Where no on-site test area is requested or included in the quotation, the Client accepts the colour as applied once the agreed colour reference has been confirmed in writing.

8.3 Finish and Surface Condition

  1. The level of surface preparation achievable, and the condition of the substrate, affects which finish will give the best overall result. Spray coating applies a thin, conformal layer of paint or coating over the existing surface. It does not fill, level or remove pre-existing features of the substrate, including dents, weld lines, previous fixing holes, filled repairs, corrosion pitting, or texture, profile or irregularity left by a previous coating, treatment or incident. Whatever condition the substrate is in before we begin will generally remain present, to some degree, beneath and through the new coating, regardless of which finish is selected. This is a separate consideration from the finish itself and can occur on any job where such a substrate history is present.
  2. This applies even where a surface appears smooth, uniform or free from visible imperfections before coating. Our assessment of a surface is a visual assessment only and does not extend to destructive testing, removal of existing coatings, or investigation beneath the surface. Underlying characteristics that are not visible or reasonably identifiable through such an assessment, including previous repairs, fillers, coatings, corrosion or substrate irregularities, may become apparent once a new coating is applied. This is not a defect in our workmanship and is not covered by our guarantees.
  3. Independently of the point above, no finish we offer, including gloss, satin, matt or textured options, corrects, removes or guarantees the concealment of pre-existing surface characteristics. A surface that is not in a smooth, uniform condition before coating will generally not achieve a smooth, uniform or glass-like appearance after coating, regardless of the finish selected.
  4. Where practical, we may advise you on finish options for your particular job. This is offered as general guidance and is not a substitute for your own inspection of the surface. The final choice of finish is yours. Whether or not we raise this in advance does not affect the position in this clause: visibility of pre-existing substrate features through the completed coating, in any finish, is not a defect in our workmanship, and is excluded from our guarantees in accordance with Section 12.7.
  5. A professional respray restores and refinishes a surface to a high standard; it does not create a mirror-flat or glass-smooth result on a surface that was not glass-smooth before we began, and the choice of finish does not change this. Achieving such a result on a surface with dents, weld lines, previous fixing holes or a history of previous coatings or treatments, if achievable at all, would typically require full-body filling and refinishing works, which fall outside the scope of a standard spray coating service unless separately quoted.
  6. This clause applies to all spraying services under these Terms and is of particular relevance to aluminium and metal doors, frames and similar items where dents, weld lines, previous fixings, or a previous coating or treatment history are present.

9. Appointments, Cancellations and Rescheduling

9.1 Appointments

  1. Service dates and times will be arranged with the Client in advance. We strive to meet these dates but may reschedule due to circumstances beyond our control, such as equipment failure or illness. Weather-related rescheduling is governed by Section 9.2.

9.2 Safe Spray Days and Weather Policy

  1. All exterior spray coating works are carried out only on what we designate as “safe spray days”. Safe spray day criteria are determined solely at our discretion and are based on environmental conditions including, but not limited to, temperature, humidity, wind speed, rainfall and surface moisture. We do not publish our specific thresholds, and our assessment of whether conditions are suitable is made in good faith based on our professional assessment of conditions at the time.
  2. If we determine that conditions do not meet our safe spray standards on the day of your appointment, we will reschedule your job to the next available suitable date. This is not a breach of contract on our part and no compensation or penalty shall be due.
  3. For residential clients, rescheduling due to weather will be arranged as promptly as possible and will not attract any additional charge.
  4. For commercial projects, weather delay provisions including responsibility for standing time, access equipment costs and rescheduling arrangements are governed by the project-specific contract. In the absence of such provisions, the parties shall negotiate in good faith to agree a fair resolution.

9.3 Consumer Cancellation Rights (14-Day Statutory Right)

  1. If you are a Consumer and the contract was entered into at a distance (e.g. by phone, email or online) or away from our business premises, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of entering the contract without giving any reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
  2. If you request that work begins before the 14-day period expires, including where you request, agree or confirm a start date or appointment that falls within the 14-day period, or otherwise ask us to proceed with your booking, you expressly authorise us to begin work and to order materials specific to your job during that period. You acknowledge that by doing so you lose the right to cancel in respect of services already performed, and that you will be charged proportionally for any work carried out and for any materials ordered or purchased for your job up to the point of cancellation.
  3. Because spray coatings and related materials are ordered specifically for your job, requesting that we proceed with your booking constitutes your consent to us ordering those materials, and the cost of materials already ordered for your job is recoverable from you even where you cancel within the 14-day cancellation period.
  4. To exercise your right to cancel within this period, please contact us in writing at info@inspirespraycoat.com.

9.4 Cancellation by Client After the 14-Day Period

  1. This Section 9.4 applies to residential and Consumer clients. For commercial and Business Clients, cancellation is governed by the project-specific contract or scope-of-works document agreed for the job. Where no such document is in place, the same principles set out in this Section 9.4 apply, namely that we retain only the costs we have reasonably incurred and the losses we have genuinely suffered.
  2. Subject to your statutory rights set out in Section 9.3, the deposit is retained on cancellation to the extent of the costs we have reasonably incurred and the losses we have genuinely suffered in connection with your booking, including materials ordered, time and resource reserved and administrative costs. The deposit represents a genuine pre-estimate of, and part-payment towards, those costs and is not a penalty. Where our reasonably incurred costs and genuine losses are less than the deposit, the balance will be refunded or issued as a credit note.
  3. If you cancel more than 30 days before the scheduled start date: we retain only the costs we have reasonably incurred and losses genuinely suffered up to that point. Where no such costs have been incurred, the deposit is refunded or issued as a credit note in full.
  4. If you cancel within 30 days of the scheduled start date: we will deduct the costs we have reasonably incurred (including materials ordered, administrative costs and pre-booked resource) from amounts you have paid. Any balance remaining after these deductions will be issued as a company credit note valid for 24 months, after which it expires.
  5. If you cancel within 7 days of the scheduled start date: because materials and resources are typically committed at this stage, our reasonable costs and losses are generally higher. We will deduct the costs we have reasonably incurred, up to a maximum of 20% of the total quoted price, which the parties agree is a reasonable pre-estimate of our loss at this stage. Any balance remaining after these deductions will be issued as a company credit note valid for 24 months, after which it expires.
  6. Nothing in this clause limits any rights you may have as a Consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

9.5 Rescheduling by Client

  1. Rescheduling does not carry a charge, provided you give at least 7 days’ notice.
  2. If we have already purchased paint or materials specific to your job, a further deposit of 12% of the total quoted price will be required at the time of rescheduling to cover those material costs.

9.6 Cancellation or Rescheduling by Us

  1. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule if unforeseen events occur, including where conditions do not meet our safe spray standards. We will provide as much notice as possible.
  2. If we cancel entirely and cannot offer a suitable alternative date, we will refund any payment you have made in full, including the deposit, provided no materials have been purchased and no costs have been incurred specifically for your job. Where materials have been purchased or costs incurred, these will be deducted and the balance refunded. For Consumer clients this represents the maximum extent of our financial liability for such cancellation, without prejudice to any statutory rights.

9.7 Turn-Away, Site Access Refusal and On-Site Cancellation

  1. Where our team attends site for a scheduled appointment and is turned away, refused access, or the appointment is cancelled by the Client at the point of attendance, for any reason, a call-out charge of £149 (plus VAT where applicable) is payable, together with the cost of materials specific to your job, including paint, hardener and thinner, that have been mixed, prepared, loaded or brought to site for that appointment. Material costs vary depending on the size and scope of the job and are confirmed based on the quantities prepared or used.
  2. Where the scope of works found on site differs materially from the scope described to us at the time of booking, and this results in a revised quotation in accordance with Section 2.16 or Section 6.1, and you decline to proceed with the revised scope and instruct us to leave without works being carried out, this is treated in the same way as a turn-away under Section 9.7(i), and the call-out charge and material costs set out in that clause apply.
  3. Where an appointment is turned away or cancelled under Section 9.7(i) or (ii), this falls within the 7-day cancellation provisions of Section 9.4(v). The amount payable to us is the greater of the amount recoverable under Section 9.4(v), or the call-out charge and material costs set out in Section 9.7(i); we will not charge both in full for the same cancellation. Where a deposit has been paid, we will deduct the applicable amount from the deposit and refund or invoice the balance as applicable. Where no deposit has been paid, or the deposit does not cover the applicable amount, the balance is payable by you in accordance with Section 10.
  4. Nothing in this clause limits your statutory rights as a Consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, including your rights under Section 9.3 where applicable.

10. Payment Terms

10.1 Quotation Validity

  1. All quotations issued by us are valid for 10 days from the date of issue unless the quotation expressly states a longer validity period of 30 days, which may be applied at our discretion where the scope and scale of the job warrants it.
  2. After the stated validity period has expired, we reserve the right to re-quote. Material costs, labour rates and access requirements can change and we cannot be bound by a quote that has lapsed. We will always endeavour to honour a lapsed quote where circumstances allow, but this is not guaranteed.
  3. Acceptance of a quotation must be confirmed in writing, including by email or WhatsApp. Verbal acceptance does not constitute a binding agreement.

10.2 Deposits

  1. A deposit is required to secure all bookings. The standard deposit is 20% of the total quoted price. For larger or higher-value jobs, the deposit may be up to 50% of the total quoted price, or structured as staged payments at our discretion. The applicable deposit amount will be clearly stated in your quotation or booking confirmation. The deposit is a part-payment towards, and a genuine pre-estimate of, the costs we incur in securing and preparing for your job.
  2. Where the actual costs we reasonably incur in connection with your job exceed the deposit paid, for example where the materials, time and resources we have committed to your job cost more than the deposit, we reserve the right to recover the shortfall between the deposit and our actual reasonably incurred costs. We will only ever seek to recover our genuine costs and losses and will never seek to recover more than we have actually lost.
  3. Deposits may be paid by credit card, debit card or bank transfer. The method accepted is at our discretion and will be confirmed at the time of booking.
  4. Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable except as provided in Section 9.3 (statutory 14-day cooling-off period for Consumers) or Section 9.6 (cancellation by us where no costs have been incurred).
  5. A deposit invoice will be issued at the time of booking. Payment of the deposit invoice constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions in full.

10.3 Stage Payments for High-Value Jobs

  1. For jobs we deem to be high value, we reserve the right to structure payment in stages rather than as a single deposit and balance. Stage payment milestones, amounts and due dates will be confirmed in writing in your quotation or a separate payment schedule issued before works commence.
  2. Typical stage payment structures may include: a deposit on booking; an interim payment upon mobilisation or at an agreed midpoint; and a final balance payment on completion. The specific structure will vary by job and will always be agreed in writing before works begin.
  3. Failure to meet a stage payment on the agreed date may result in works being paused until payment is received. We are not liable for any delay to the programme caused by a missed stage payment.

10.4 Final Payment – Residential

  1. For residential jobs, the balance invoice will be issued on completion of the works. Full payment of the balance is required before our team leaves the site.
  2. All completed works must be signed off by the Client before our team departs. Where works are completed in low-light or evening conditions, sign-off must be carried out under adequate lighting including flood lighting where necessary. We will use reasonable efforts to have appropriate lighting available for this purpose where works are scheduled outside daylight hours.
  3. We will not leave site until the works have been signed off and full payment of the balance has been received. Sign-off and payment are both required before departure without exception.
  4. In exceptional circumstances where payment cannot be made on the day due to reasons entirely beyond the Client’s control, such as a banking system outage, a legitimate card block by the Client’s bank, or a verifiable technical failure, we may at our sole discretion agree to accept payment within 24 hours of completion. The Client must provide multiple forms of documentary evidence of the reason for non-payment on the day, including but not limited to: written confirmation from their bank, screenshots of the failed transaction, and any other supporting documentation we reasonably request. This discretion is exercised on a case-by-case basis and is not a right. Warranty and guarantee provisions remain suspended until payment is received in full.

10.5 Final Payment – Commercial

  1. For commercial jobs, payment terms are 14 days from the date of the final invoice unless a different period is expressly agreed in writing in the project-specific contract or a separate payment agreement for that job.
  2. Where a commercial client requires 30-day payment terms, this must be agreed in writing before works commence and confirmed in the project-specific contract or a written payment agreement signed by both parties. In the absence of such written agreement, 14-day terms apply.
  3. For commercial clients with whom we have an established and trusted working relationship, we may at our discretion offer a credit account or agreed payment schedule. Any such arrangement must be confirmed in writing and is subject to review at any time. Credit accounts are not available as a matter of right and are extended at our sole discretion.
  4. Commercial clients confirm by entering into a contract with us that they have the financial means and authority to meet their payment obligations under the agreed terms.

10.6 Accepted Payment Methods

  1. Balance payments on all jobs must be made by bank transfer only. We do not accept card payments, cash or cheque for balance payments unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing before the payment is due.
  2. Deposit payments may be made by credit card, debit card or bank transfer. The method accepted is at our discretion and will be confirmed at the time of booking.
  3. We accept cash payments in certain circumstances and subject to standard legal requirements including the provision of a formal receipt and compliance with applicable anti-money laundering obligations. Cash acceptance is at our sole discretion.
  4. The offer of any payment method other than bank transfer for balance payments is entirely at our discretion and does not create a precedent or obligation to accept the same method on future jobs.
  5. All prices are quoted and invoiced in pounds sterling. We do not accept payment in foreign currency.

10.7 Invoicing

  1. We issue a deposit invoice at the time of booking confirmation. For standard jobs, a balance invoice is issued on completion of the works.
  2. For staged payment jobs, interim invoices will be issued at each agreed milestone in accordance with the payment schedule confirmed in your quotation or project document.
  3. All invoices will clearly state the payment due date, the amount due, our bank details for transfer, and any VAT applicable. Invoices will be sent by email to the address provided at the time of booking.

10.8 VAT

  1. All prices quoted are exclusive of VAT unless expressly stated otherwise. VAT will be applied at the prevailing rate and shown separately on all invoices. Where additional charges arise under these Terms (such as extra preparation, day rates or cancellation fees), VAT will be applied to those charges in the same manner.

10.9 Late Payment

  1. For Business Clients, invoices not paid by the due date will accrue interest at the statutory rate of 8% above the Bank of England base rate per annum, calculated daily on the outstanding balance, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. A fixed compensation charge of £40, £70 or £100 (depending on the invoice value in accordance with the Act) will also be applied.
  2. For Consumer Clients, invoices not paid within 14 days of the due date will accrue statutory interest at the rate permitted by applicable law.
  3. We reserve the right to suspend all further works, warranties and guarantees until all outstanding invoices are paid in full. Suspension of warranty due to non-payment does not extinguish the warranty permanently; it is reinstated upon receipt of full payment, but the warranty period continues to run during the period of suspension.
  4. We reserve the right to refer overdue accounts to a debt recovery agency or solicitor without further notice after 30 days of non-payment.

10.10 Debt Recovery Costs

  1. Where we are required to pursue unpaid amounts through a debt recovery agency, solicitor or the courts, all reasonable costs of recovery including agency fees, legal fees, court fees and disbursements shall be payable by the Client in addition to the outstanding invoice amount and any accrued interest.
  2. The Client acknowledges that these recovery costs are a foreseeable consequence of non-payment and agrees that they are reasonable and proportionate.

10.11 Disputed Invoices

  1. If the Client wishes to dispute any part of an invoice, the dispute must be raised in writing to info@inspirespraycoat.com within 5 business days of the invoice date, setting out the nature and amount of the dispute in full.
  2. Any undisputed portion of an invoice must be paid by the original due date regardless of any dispute relating to another portion of that invoice. Withholding payment of undisputed amounts is not permitted.
  3. We will respond to any written dispute within 5 business days and will work in good faith to resolve it. Where a dispute cannot be resolved, the provisions of Section 17 (Complaints and Dispute Resolution) apply.

10.12 Refused or Withheld Payment

  1. Where a Client refuses to pay the balance on the day of completion without valid reason, our workmanship warranty and any applicable guarantees are immediately suspended until full payment is received.
  2. All materials supplied by us and not fully paid for remain our property until payment is received in full. We reserve the right to recover materials in the event of non-payment, subject to applicable law.
  3. Refusal to pay does not entitle the Client to retain the benefit of our works, materials or guarantees. We reserve the right to pursue the outstanding balance through debt recovery or legal proceedings and to recover all associated costs from the Client.

10.13 Chargebacks and Reversed Payments

  1. Where a card payment is charged back or a bank transfer is reversed by the Client without valid reason, the Client remains liable for the full original invoiced amount plus any bank charges, processing fees or administrative costs incurred by us as a result of the chargeback or reversal.
  2. Fraudulent chargebacks or unjustified payment reversals will be pursued through the appropriate legal channels and the Client will be liable for all associated recovery costs.

10.14 Price Variation

  1. Where a significant increase in the cost of materials or labour occurs between the date of quote acceptance and the scheduled start date, for example due to supply chain disruption, currency fluctuation or a lapse of more than 30 days between acceptance and start, we reserve the right to notify the Client in writing and issue a revised quotation.
  2. Where a revised quotation is issued under this clause, the Client may accept the revised price or cancel the booking without penalty beyond forfeiture of any deposit already paid. We will not proceed at the original quoted price where material cost increases make it unviable to do so.
  3. Price variation notices will always be issued as early as possible and with full transparency as to the reason for the increase.

10.15 Materials Ownership

  1. All materials, coatings and products supplied by us in connection with the works remain our property until payment of the full invoiced amount has been received. Title to materials does not pass to the Client until all outstanding invoices, including any interest or recovery costs, have been paid in full.
  2. The Client must not apply, modify or allow third parties to interfere with any materials we have supplied but not yet been paid for.
  3. This retention of title clause applies regardless of whether the materials have been incorporated into the Client’s property. We reserve the right to recover unpaid materials to the extent permitted by law.

11. Completion, Inspection and Return Visits

11.1 Inspection on the Day of Completion

  1. We strongly encourage you to inspect all sprayed surfaces on the same day as completion so that any visible issues can be addressed by our team while they are still on site.
  2. Where issues are reported on the day and found to be our fault, we will correct them at no additional cost where it is practical to do so before our team leaves.

11.2 Return Visits and Remedies

  1. Consumer Clients retain statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to report defects and request remedial works within a reasonable period. These rights are not limited by any same-day inspection requirement.
  2. For Business Clients, any defects must be notified to us in writing within 5 business days of completion. We will not accept liability for defects reported outside this period unless they could not reasonably have been discovered earlier.
  3. Where an issue is reported and accepted as being within our workmanship warranty, we will carry out one return visit to rectify the affected areas at no charge. We do not undertake unlimited return visits. Subsequent visits may be subject to a callout fee.
  4. Issues reported after the warranty periods set out in Section 12, or not attributable to our workmanship, are not covered by a free return visit.

11.3 Cure Times and Early Use

  1. Fresh coatings remain vulnerable while curing and must be treated with care. You should avoid opening, closing, knocking or allowing surfaces to seal or press against newly coated edges for as long as possible after completion, and handle all coated surfaces gently during the curing period. Cure times vary significantly depending on the specific coating system used. As a general guide, two-component (two-pack) systems require approximately 10 days to reach full cure, and waterborne systems approximately 7 days, although the coating remains delicate for some time and full hardness develops gradually. The precise cure and handling times for your project depend on the specific coating system applied, and the relevant manufacturer technical data sheets vary between systems. For full information on the cure and handling times applicable to your project, please contact our office, who will provide the relevant guidance.
  2. Do not carry out hard cleaning until 28 days have elapsed. Early operation or cleaning can mark edges or cause sticking and are not workmanship defects.

11.4 Care and Maintenance

  1. For the first 7 days: dust lightly with a soft cloth only.
  2. After 7 days: clean with a mild pH-neutral detergent and a soft cloth. Do not use solvents, bleach, cream cleaners, scourers or pressure washers.
  3. Avoid magnets, adhesives or tape on fresh coatings.
  4. For exterior items, wash down gently every 6 to 12 months to remove grime and atmospheric deposits.
  5. Failures caused by a departure from these instructions are not covered by the guarantees in Section 12 and are excluded under Section 12.7.

11.5 Completion Record, Photographs and Acceptance

  1. On completion of the works, our team will inspect the coated surfaces with you and photograph the completed works. These photographs, together with your sign-off and the invoice, form our completion record for your job.
  2. Where you inspect the completed works, sign them off, and make payment on site in accordance with Section 10.4, this is taken as your acceptance that the works were completed to a satisfactory standard and that the coating was sound and free from visible defect at that time. Our photographic completion record evidences the condition of the coating at handover.
  3. We may rely on the completion record, including the photographs and your sign-off, as evidence of the condition and quality of the coating at the date of completion in the event of any later claim.
  4. Care and maintenance instructions are provided to you on completion. It is your responsibility to read and follow them. Failures caused by a departure from these instructions are excluded under Section 12.7.
  5. Where we identify any concern about the condition of a substrate before or during works, we will raise it with you in writing at the time. Where we raise no written concern, Section 12.5 applies.
  6. Acceptance of the completed works does not remove your statutory rights, and nothing in this Section prevents you from raising a defect that was not reasonably visible at the time of completion.

12. Warranty and Guarantee

12.1 Overview

  1. We offer three forms of protection. First, a Workmanship Warranty covering defects in our labour. Second, the Manufacturer’s 10 Year Paint Guarantee, which is provided by the coating manufacturer where an approved system such as Kolorbond has been used. Third, the Inspire Spray Coat (ISC) 10 Year Paint Guarantee, which is our own guarantee covering the paint and materials required to rectify a qualifying coating failure. The ISC 10 Year Paint Guarantee is a materials-backed guarantee: where a qualifying failure is agreed, we supply the paint and materials at no cost to you, and a fair labour contribution is payable by you as set out in Section 12.4. The two 10 Year Paint Guarantees are offered to residential clients; guarantees on commercial projects are governed by the contract for that project, as set out in Section 12.6. All forms of protection are subject to the conditions in this section.
  2. These guarantees are in addition to, and do not affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

12.2 Workmanship Warranty

  1. We warrant our workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of completion, unless a different period is expressly stated in your written job confirmation or completion document.
  2. If a proven workmanship defect arises within the warranty period, we will rectify the affected area at no charge. Our liability is limited to repair or re-coating of the affected surface or surfaces. Cash refunds are not offered in lieu of remedial works.
  3. The warranty applies to defects arising directly from our application, preparation or technique. It does not apply to substrate failure, material defects, damage caused by the Client or third parties, substrate-related adverse reactions described in Section 7, or any of the exclusions listed in Section 12.7.

12.3 Manufacturer’s 10 Year Paint Guarantee

  1. Where we use an approved paint system carrying a published manufacturer’s guarantee (such as Kolorbond Original, Kolorbond K2, or any other manufacturer-backed system confirmed in your quotation), that manufacturer’s guarantee applies to the coating film, covering adhesion and colour stability within the manufacturer’s stated tolerances.
  2. Approved systems such as Kolorbond are guaranteed by the manufacturer for adhesion for up to 10 years from the date of application. Colour fastness (resistance to fading) is separately guaranteed by the manufacturer for up to 5 years under normal exterior exposure. These are two distinct periods and both are subject to the manufacturer’s own terms, to the conditions in Section 12.5, and to the exclusions in Section 12.7.
  3. This guarantee is provided by the coating manufacturer and not by us. It is subject to the manufacturer’s terms, correct maintenance, a suitable substrate, and the exclusion of abnormal abuse, impact or chemical attack. Where registration or evidence of purchase is required by the manufacturer, we will assist with reasonable documentation and liaison.
  4. This guarantee is offered to residential clients and applies only where stated in your quotation. Not all jobs, coating systems or substrates qualify for manufacturer-backed guarantees. For commercial projects, see Section 12.6.
  5. Where a failure falls within both the manufacturer’s guarantee and the ISC 10 Year Paint Guarantee in Section 12.4, we will pursue the manufacturer’s guarantee in the first instance. The ISC 10 Year Paint Guarantee applies where no manufacturer-backed guarantee is available, where the manufacturer declines a valid claim, or where it is otherwise stated in your quotation.

12.4 The ISC 10 Year Paint Guarantee (Paint and Materials Covered, Fair Labour Contribution Payable)

  1. The ISC 10 Year Paint Guarantee is our own guarantee, provided by Inspire Spray Coat and underpinned where applicable by the guarantee of the coating manufacturer whose approved system we have used (such as Kolorbond Original, Kolorbond K2, or any other approved system confirmed in your quotation). It applies to the coating film and covers adhesion, coating failure and colour fastness within the tolerances and conditions set out below.
  2. The ISC 10 Year Paint Guarantee runs for 10 years from the date of application and covers adhesion failure, delamination, and premature or excessive fading of the coating beyond the tolerances expected of the system used under normal UK exposure. Fading is expressly covered within the 10 year period, subject to the same conditions and to the fair labour contribution set out below. All cover under this guarantee is subject to the conditions in Section 12.5 and the exclusions in Section 12.7.
  3. This guarantee is offered to residential clients and applies only where stated in your quotation. Not all jobs, coating systems or substrates qualify, and the guarantee applies only where expressly confirmed in writing. For commercial projects, see Section 12.6.
  4. Determination of a qualifying failure. A claim under this guarantee is valid where we determine, following inspection, that a genuine coating failure has occurred. We will inspect the coating and seek to establish the cause of the failure with you. Where we determine that no genuine coating failure has occurred, or that the failure arises from a cause excluded under Section 12.7, no cover is provided under this Section 12.4.
  5. Purpose of this guarantee and the labour contribution. This guarantee exists to protect you where a coating failure occurs that is not attributable to our workmanship. This includes premature or excessive fading, and failures where the cause cannot be conclusively established following inspection. In those circumstances we are not at fault, but we will still stand behind the work: we supply all paint and materials free of charge, and you contribute towards the labour. The labour contribution reflects the fact that the failure is not attributable to our workmanship.
  6. Remedial works carried out under this guarantee are provided as a goodwill remedy and without any admission of liability on our part.
  7. Where, following inspection, a failure is found to be attributable to our workmanship, it is dealt with under the Workmanship Warranty in Section 12.2 and no labour contribution is payable.
  8. Nothing in this Section affects your statutory rights. Where you are a Consumer and the circumstances of a failure engage your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, those rights take precedence over this guarantee and any remedy required by law will be provided accordingly.
  9. What we provide. Where a qualifying failure is agreed, we supply all paint, coatings and associated materials required to rectify the affected area at no cost to you.
  10. Fair labour contribution. Labour for the remedial works is chargeable to the Client. The labour charge is limited to a fair contribution of £250 per operative per day, and will never exceed that rate. This figure reflects rates current at the date of these Terms and will be adjusted in line with our working rates prevailing at the date of the claim. We will confirm the expected number of operatives and days in writing before any remedial works begin.
  11. Extenuating circumstances. We may, entirely at our discretion, reduce or waive the labour contribution where the circumstances of the failure warrant it. Any such decision is made on a case by case basis, is not a precedent, and does not create an entitlement to the same treatment on any future claim.
  12. Fair use. This guarantee is intended to protect you against genuine coating failure. It is not intended to provide periodic redecoration and must not be used for that purpose. We reserve the right to decline claims that are repeated, speculative, or made where no genuine coating failure can be identified on inspection.

12.5 Conditions for the 10 Year Paint Guarantees – Residential

For residential clients to be eligible under either the Manufacturer’s 10 Year Paint Guarantee or the ISC 10 Year Paint Guarantee, all of the following conditions must be met:

  1. The coating must have been applied by us using an approved manufacturer coating system and the correct manufacturer-specified preparation products, including any required pre-cleaners or primers.
  2. The surfaces must have been in a suitable condition at the time of application: clean, dry, free from contamination, structurally sound and without pre-existing coating failure.
  3. The Client must follow the care and maintenance instructions in Section 11.4, including regular gentle wash-downs of exterior surfaces.
  4. The coatings must not have been subjected to physical damage, chemical attack, deliberate modification, or application of adhesives, magnets or tape directly to the surface.
  5. Heat damage around hobs, kettles, ovens, dishwashers, sinks or other heat sources is excluded.
  6. Movement, moisture ingress or substrate failure (including swollen MDF, rotten timber, failed laminates or failing silicone) is excluded.
  7. Corrosion of metals or underlying powder coat is excluded.
  8. The coating must not have been painted over or modified by any third party.
  9. Where registration or proof of purchase is required by the coating manufacturer to support a claim, we will assist with reasonable documentation. The Client is responsible for retaining proof of the works carried out.
  10. Where we assess the surfaces prior to or at the start of works and proceed without raising a written concern about their condition, we accept that the surfaces were in a suitable condition at that time for the purposes of this guarantee.
  11. Claims must be submitted in accordance with Section 12.8.

12.6 Guarantees – Commercial Projects

  1. The 10 Year Paint Guarantees set out in Sections 12.3 and 12.4 are offered to residential clients. They do not apply to commercial projects unless expressly agreed in writing for that project.
  2. For commercial projects, any guarantee or warranty offered, together with its period, scope and conditions, is set out in the contract, scope-of-works document or specification agreed for that project. Where no such document provides for a guarantee, no guarantee is given beyond the Workmanship Warranty in Section 12.2 and your statutory rights.
  3. Commercial guarantee terms will reflect the demands of the environment concerned, including cleaning regimes, traffic levels, chemical exposure and the nature of the substrate. Intumescent and fire-resistant coating works are warranted separately in accordance with the applicable specification and certification requirements.

12.7 General Exclusions

The workmanship warranty, the Manufacturer’s 10 Year Paint Guarantee and the ISC 10 Year Paint Guarantee do not cover:

  1. Fair wear and tear, impact, abrasion, scratches or misuse.
  2. Damage caused by extreme weather events, flooding, or conditions beyond normal UK climatic exposure.
  3. Any substrate movement, structural settlement or building movement.
  4. Any item not included within the agreed quoted scope.
  5. Opening, closing or sealing onto freshly coated surfaces during the cure times in Section 11.3.
  6. Colour perception differences due to lighting conditions or comparison against printed, digital or screen-based references.
  7. Silicone, mastic, flexible sealants, gaskets, seals, and cracking of coatings applied over mastic or sealant, and any items excluded from scope under Section 2.17.
  8. Floor tile or bathroom coatings in high-wear or high-moisture environments where accelerated wear is expected and noted in the quotation.
  9. Coatings applied to substrates that were not in a suitable condition at the time of application, where the Client declined our recommendation to carry out additional preparation.
  10. Any substrate-related adverse reaction or pre-existing condition described in Section 7.
  11. Stiffness, sticking, binding, reduced operation or failure of any track, hinge, lock, mechanism or moving part sprayed in accordance with Section 2.18, and any effect on brush seals or pile seals described in Section 7.12.
  12. The visibility of dents, weld lines, previous fixing holes or similar substrate imperfections or characteristics through the completed coating, in any finish, whether or not those characteristics were visible before works commenced, in accordance with Section 8.3.

12.8 Claims Procedure

  1. All warranty and guarantee claims must be submitted in writing to info@inspirespraycoat.com with proof of our works (invoice or completion certificate) and photographic evidence of the issue.
  2. We reserve the right to inspect the surfaces in person before accepting any claim.
  3. Where a valid claim is accepted, we will rectify the issue by repair or re-coat. Under the Workmanship Warranty in Section 12.2, remedial works are carried out at no cost to you. Under the 10 Year Paint Guarantees in Sections 12.3 and 12.4, remedial works are carried out on the basis set out in those sections, which includes the fair labour contribution payable under Section 12.4. Cash refunds are not offered in lieu of remedial works.

13. Liability and Damages

13.1 Our Liability

  1. We take all reasonable care and will repair or rectify any direct damage caused by our negligence.
  2. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages such as loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or goodwill.
  3. Our liability to a Consumer shall not be limited in any way that conflicts with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including in respect of death or personal injury caused by negligence.

13.2 Pre-Existing Conditions and Third-Party Damage

  1. We are not responsible for damage resulting from pre-existing defects in your property or damage caused by third parties.
  2. Structural integrity issues, hidden faults or underlying material failures are outside the scope of our responsibility. Where failures originate within the substrate itself, the provisions of Section 7 apply.

13.3 Tape and Protective Materials

  1. We use low-tack tapes and professional masking techniques. Some finishes, especially older or poorly bonded surfaces, may peel when tape is removed. By accepting these Terms, you acknowledge this inherent risk.

14. Our Personnel

14.1 Standards and Accountability

  1. Inspire Spray Coat works with directly engaged staff and, where necessary, self-employed individuals engaged on a per-job or short-term basis. All personnel working on your property under our name operate under our direction, quality standards and supervision, and we take responsibility for the standard of work they carry out.
  2. We do not subcontract your job to a separate independent company. Clients must not enter into any separate payment or work arrangements with any individual on their property as part of our team. All instructions, variations and payments must go through our office.

14.2 Liability for Self-Employed Personnel

  1. Where a self-employed individual is engaged on a project, we require them to hold adequate public liability insurance before attending any site. We retain a copy of this documentation.
  2. In the event that damage or loss is caused by a self-employed individual working on our behalf, our liability to you is limited to the cost of repairing or rectifying the damage, not exceeding the value of the works carried out by that individual, unless the damage results from our own negligence in selection or supervision.
  3. We are not liable for actions taken by any individual outside the scope of the work we engaged them to carry out, or for any damage that arises after our works have been completed and signed off.
  4. Nothing in this clause limits your statutory rights as a Consumer, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

15. Photography and Marketing

  1. We may photograph completed work for use in our portfolio, website, social media and marketing materials. We will not include identifying personal information (such as your name or full address) without your express consent.
  2. If you do not wish for your project to be photographed for marketing purposes, please notify us in writing before works commence. In the absence of such notification, you are deemed to consent to photography of the completed works.

16. Force Majeure

  1. Neither party shall be in breach of these Terms, nor liable for any failure or delay in performance, if such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond their reasonable control including, without limitation: acts of God, extreme weather, fire, flood, epidemic or pandemic, war, civil unrest, government action, failure of utilities, or supply chain disruption.
  2. The affected party shall notify the other as soon as reasonably practicable and shall use reasonable endeavours to resume performance. If the force majeure event continues for more than 30 days, either party may terminate the affected part of the contract on written notice, without liability, save that the Client shall pay for any work already properly completed.

17. Complaints and Dispute Resolution

  1. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our Services, please contact us in the first instance at info@inspirespraycoat.com or by phone on 0208 050 8956. We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 business days and aim to resolve it within 14 business days.
  2. If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, Consumer Clients may seek advice from Citizens Advice (www.citizensadvice.org.uk or 03454 04 05 06) or Trading Standards. We are not currently registered with an approved Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme. We will comply with any mandatory ADR requirements as and when they come into force under applicable UK legislation, and updated information will be published on our website. Unresolved disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales as set out in Section 1.6.
  3. Business Clients agree to attempt to resolve any dispute through good-faith negotiation before commencing legal proceedings.

18. Data Protection and Privacy

18.1 Compliance

  1. We comply with applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

18.2 Use of Personal Information

  1. We will only use personal data for processing bookings, providing services and as described in our Privacy Policy, available on request.
  2. We will not disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent, except where required by law.

19. General Provisions

19.1 Severability

  1. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

19.2 Changes to Terms

  1. We reserve the right to amend or update these Terms at any time. Any changes will be effective upon posting on our website or upon written notification to you. For existing bookings, the Terms in force at the time of booking apply unless you agree to the revised Terms.

19.3 Entire Agreement

  1. These Terms, together with your quotation and any project-specific document, constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the Services and supersede all prior discussions and representations.

19.4 Availability and Incorporation of Terms

  1. These Terms are available on our website and on request at any time, including before you accept a quotation, whether the quotation is given by telephone, WhatsApp, email or any other means.
  2. Where a quotation is given by telephone, WhatsApp, email or any other means, these Terms apply to that quotation. Accepting the quotation, confirming a booking, or paying a deposit constitutes your acceptance of these Terms in full, whether or not you have specifically requested or read a copy.
  3. It is your responsibility to review these Terms before accepting a quotation or confirming a booking. Proceeding without doing so does not affect the validity or applicability of these Terms.
